Soak Up the Last of Summer

Summer has always been one of my favorite seasons. I was raised in a family that appreciated the outdoors, so summer was a time packed full with road trips, camping, hiking, exploring...and if we couldn't make schedules work, well then I ended up in some kind of summer camp. Either art camps or swim camps or a plethora of outdoor camps, summer was always full of activities - and I enjoyed most of them. But, and my family can attest to this, I was never good with transitions, especially the transition from the end of summer to the beginning of the school year (the worst transition of all for a kiddo like me). That being said, I learned early on to cherish the final month, weeks, and days of summer before Labor Day and the inevitability of returning to fluorescent lights and rigid school norms. So let's talk about nostalgia and the last of summer!
With the fun aching feeling of nostalgia always present after we pass the age of 10, I thought we could all relate to the seemingly ageless sense of longing and wanting. Let's get back to it. Push away those pesky tasks that the adult in your head is "forcing" you to do. Clean the dust off the bicycle. Find the swim suit and bohemian outfit you've been hiding under the professional work attire. Pull out those floppy hats and bright, huge-rimmed sunglasses and throw away care and judgement - summer has no time for those two. Drink delicious drinks, eat flavorful foods, and for these final stretches of summer let us all slip away from the world of seriousness and drift into the summer feelings of yesterday.
I love chocolate. Always have...always will. My favorite? Chocolate chip cookies. But it's a nuisance to heat the oven when we're trying to keep our homes as cool as possible. So I found an all-chocolate no-bake cookie that is so delicious it sent me into a dream world. And I don't feel like returning until I absolutely have to.
Yours truly,
